The Humane Society for Boone County received the following update from Quincy's owners.
Another Happy Ending!
Dear Diane and all other helpful souls at the Humane Society of Boone County,
Matt and I just thought we'd send you a few more pictures of Quincy and an update on his health. Of course football season is starting up and that means regular trips to Purdue for Matt to weekend games. One of the first Matt plans to drop off your blanket and the collar Quincy borrowed from HSBC.
Dog Paddling!
Anyhow, Quincy is still being treated for colitis. His GI tract seems to be working normally now, so the vet is having us slowly taper him off of Prednisone. Since I have gone back to work, he seems to miss our time we had over summer break. Matt and I still do all we can to reward his good behavior while guarding the house when we're away. (Although I have come home to a few raided trash cans and chewed up toilet paper rolls...we are still working out the kinks) We've found that the kong dog toy keeps him busy for a bit and can be stuffed with lots of doggie goodies.
Pools are Cool!
He still LOVES teenie greenies the best, though!
I have attached some pictures from the Greenfield PAAWS Pool Party at the end of the summer. We decided to see what Quincy thought about swimming. While he wasn't as excited as many other dogs, he swims well.....especially towards the side when he's ready to get out!!!
Thanks HSFBC!
He observed a lot that day!
Quincy is our little blessing. He is the perfect, well behaved dog. He is easy to please and never whines or complains. This week he is keeping me company while Matt is away working in Austria. Lucky Quincy even gets to sleep in bed with me!
Well, it's been a long, hard journey for our little survivors but the trip has been worth the reward!
The story started 10 weeks ago: Through the efforts of one of our devoted board members and several foster families, HSforBC was able to take possession of 11 two and three-day-old puppies on Wed, April 1. Along with one stillborn pup, the mother unfortunately died of a birth related infection and left the new babies in a critical situation. Calls were frantically placed to find HSforBC volunteers and fosters willing to make the time commitment to feed the new babies every few hours, around the clock, knowing that the mortality rate is quite often high in these situations. Some kind-hearted individuals stepped up and puppies were delivered in pairs along with formula and other supplies.
Emma at 6 weeks
We are sad to say we lost 5 of the precious puppies but are thrilled to report that the remaining 6 now thrive. There were challenges along the way but they are healthy and strong and have all found their forever homes.
Thank you to all the wonderful fosters and to the HSforBC supporters that have helped along the way or just shared in the journey.
So tiny...

Bungy was originally posted on the Humane Society for Boone County website on April 7th as a missing dog and was a regular for weeks. We are delighted to share the following note from one of Bungy's parents.
May 19, 2009
We are so very happy.
My husband had dropped the info sheet and pic (like we sent you) off at the Broadview Campground in Colfax a month ago. The owner was on his way to work, yesterday, when he spotted Bungy on the corner of SR 52 and Manson-Colfax Rd. He had his wife call us.
We were not at home and didn't receive the message until 5 hours later! SO we went to the area and called and called and called. My daughter and I would drive down a little and call again. Then we saw a man weed-whipping and showed him Bungy's picture and he said he had seen him several times in fact playing with the ST Bernard that lives a few houses down.
We knocked on their door and they had Bungy with them. My daughter and I could hardly breathe as we waited for her to open her garage door to let him out. Oh when Bungy came running to us, I swear my daughter and I were both crying.
They had discovered Bungy playing with their dog and kept him while they had been trying to locate his owners. Our Bungy was well cared for and totally enjoyed playing with not only their dog but their 3 kids, also! (I felt so bad, their girls were crying when we took Bungy with us.)
They had been calling the Clinton Co Humane Society. While you and Tippecanoe County had him listed, Clinton Co just said they had no info on a lost dog. Oh My, I was calling them every couple days for 3 weeks!!!!!!! If they had your set up, we would have gotten Bungy back weeks before!!!
So although, we didn't find him through your site, you helped more than you know. Thank you so very much!!!
Ace gets rescued just in time! It was looking pretty bleak for Ace. He was found wandering around Lebanon and was picked up by the Lebanon Street Department. Lebanon does not currently have a humane officer or a dog pound but we are fortunate to have a city department that is willing to go 'above and beyond' by capturing and retaining stray animals. Unfortunately, they are only able to keep the animals for a short time.
The Humane Society of Boone County was notifed so we quickly began our search to find a foster family or a permanent home for Ace before his time was up. Thanks to our devoted board of directors and volunteers, a wonderful and caring couple was contacted.
It was truly love at first sight and has turned out to be an excellent match.
Ace
Ace is sweet and loving and very well mannered. He doesn't bark and already responds to sit and stay commands. His new home includes a child and another dog to play with. This truly is a very happy family with one new, extremely grateful and lucky member.
Thank you so much Tina And Jerry!!!
A much deserved thank you to our extremely devoted volunteers!!
We would like to share a letter of thanks written to our wonderful volunteers. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to foster a litter of puppies until they were old enough to spay and neuter, and then go to their forever homes. This letter was recently received from one of the new "parents".
Jenner and new mom!
March 14, 2009
Dear Humane Society Volunteers,
I wanted to personally thank you for the love and care you put in to caring for the puppies recently. I was fortunate to become an owner of one of the puppies and she is just great. She adapted quickly to her new home and I think that is a testament to the care she received in the two weeks leading up to her adoption.
I’m sure each of you has very busy lives and there may be times when it doesn’t seem like you have enough time or energy to do all you do. But, know the time you spend volunteering for the Humane Society is very much appreciated. These puppies were blessed to have you care for them, and the new owners are blessed too. It just rolls on down. I hope your lives were blessed and enriched during this time too! Robin (Now referred to as "Jenner's mom")
